Should I Regrout Or Just Replace The Tile?

We put ceramic tile in our entryway about two years ago & did seal it but the grout over time has still gotten darker & harder to clean to get all stains off. I want to keep the tile but just regrout the floor. When you regrout tile do you just grout like normal or do you have to try & chip away the old grout inbetween the tiles?

Cost To Pick Up Vinyl And Lay Vinyl Or Laminate Floor In Kitchen?

How much does it cost to remove an old vinyl floor & replace with a laminate or new vinyl tile floor in a 200 square foot room? I would try myself, but there is what looks like a base board from a wall that the previous owner took out at the transition to the wood floor & I am scared to mess with it. Would it cost more to have them remove the base board too?

Can I Leave The Spacers In My Ceramic Tile Floor And Grout Over It?

I am installing a tile floor & my local home store has told me that I can go ahead & leave the 1/4 inch spacers between the tiles & cover them over when I grout. They said this is a good way to maintain the distance throughout the installation, particularly since I’m installing it alone. I’ve read books that say not to leave the spacers in. Who’s right?

How Do You Stain Grout In Ceramic Floor Tile?

I would probably go with a grout re-colorant. You can find the product at Lowe’s & it actually works really well. Just get a kids toothbrush, apply the product to the grout, let dry for 15 minutes & then wipe off anything that got on the tile with a wet sponge & re-seal. The product looks like this: http://www.lowes.com/lowes/lkn?action=pr…

What Is The Anatomy Of A Bathroom Floor With Tile?

I have to repair a hole in a bathroom floor that is upstairs. There was some leaking around the tub & the wood is rotted. The joists look good. But the wood that is laid across the joists need to be replaced. There is also a layer of plywood, I think.
I would like to patch the floor & then install tile over the entire bathroom. There was carpet in the bathroom that I ripped up.
Are there particular types of wood that I should use for the floor before I put the cement board & the tiles down? I don’t want to use anything that may rot through over time. I want the fix to be permanent & the floor to be level so I can proceed with the tiling.
Thanks in advance for your input.

Floor Tile Stain Removal?

I bought loads of black fabric from Wal-Mart to make slipcovers for my sofa & love seat. When I moved the couches to change the livingroom around, to my horror there was a deep purple stain on my walls where the couches were & the tile was the same color where the fabric touched the ground!
I now have to leave my living room the same setup because you can see the stains so horribly. I have tried so many cleaners for the walls (glossy, cleanable ones) & nothing has worked, not even bleach! Now I have a purple hand print on the wall from handling the covers.
I have tried rewashing them, drying them, etc etc, & still the fabric stains (tested on paper) so I won’t be using them again, but how do I get this dye off the tile? I can repaint the walls, but I rent & can’t afford to replace all of this tile!
